The Dust Destructor showing damage to the chimney following damage caused by a Flying Bomb (V1) that fell there at 3.27pm, 1st July 1944. Although 60 or so people were hurt, mainly by flying glass, no-one was killed. 350 houses were damaged, 12 seriously. The nearby All Saints Church was damaged too which eventually led to its demolition and rebuild 20 years later. The area is now known as Greenacre.
