' Loughborough Derby Road Station. Built by the Charnwood Forest Railway Company - Opened to traffic 1883 and operated by the LNWR. Subsequently LMS after 1948 and British Railways after 1948. Closed to passenger traffic in 1931 and goods traffic in 1955. There was the odd passenger excursion - the last from Loughborough being to Leamington Spa in 1939. The last railway enthusiasts special visited Loughborough Derby Road on 3rd May 1952. After 1955 the Charnwood Forest Railway terminated at Shepshed and the line to Loughborough was used for wagon storage. '
