A tug, probably the "Tidworth", moored over the "South Hard", a platform with timbers for a ship to ground on at low water. The nearby dredger is working in "Sleeper's Hole", the river end of which needed to be kept deep enough for cross-channel ferries to turn round. The tug may be waiting to take the spoil barge out to sea for emptying. '
