Although not as big a company as Courtaulds or British Enka, North British Rayon was still a big player in the 30's and 40's when the smaller company's were beginning to feel the competition from Courtaulds, British Enka and, from the acetate producers British Celanese and Lansil. This competition and WWII killed off the smaller players in viscose and acetate. '
