Abbotsinch airfield - you can see the circle and the hangar with auxiliary accommodation. It had been opened for use by 602 (City of Glasgow) Royal Auxiliary Air Force Squadron in 1933, so was fairly new at this stage. The RAF HQ was created in 1936 and HMS Sanderling, the Naval Air Station in 1940. The aeroplanes in use would have been Westland Wapitis or Hawker Harts, as they changed over in 1934. '
