' John Rabone and Sons - Hockley Abbey Works (later became Rabone Chesterman) making rulers, tapes and tools. Previously this was the site of "Hockley Abbey", a house built circa 1798 by Richard Ford who was an industrialist and inventor. The house was built from locally sourced furnace slag in a "Gothic Ruined" style and without any justification was named Hockley Abbey. It was demolished circa 1871. '
