' The photograph is grainy - is this the ruin of Billy Mill ? The History of Northumberland, volume 8, by H. H. E. Craster, includes a reference to a 14th century mill in the hands of Tynemouth Priory. The wooden windmill was rebuilt in stone in 1760. In the 19th century steam mills at Chirton and Willington Quay made it redundant. It was demolished in September 1967. '
