The 'Reay Gearworks' which started off in the sheds that the Newcastle Shipbuilding erected when they started ship building in 1919. Unfortunately times were hard & they went bust in 1921. By the end of the 1920s Reay Gearworks acquired the sheds as their factory. Later it became Geo Angus & Co gear works then later RW Transmissions. The factory finally closed mid 70s & the land is now a housing estate called Tyne View. '
