The Pontop Line that the Bowes coal trucks used to take coal to the Staiths at Jarrow. When we were kids in the 50s we often hitched a free ride on the slow moving trucks & then we'd get off at Jarrow Park. I knew one lad who lost a leg & another who lost an arm doing this. '
