The Leaderfoot railway viaduct carrying the single track branch to Earlston, Gordon, Greenlaw, Marchmont, Duns (county town of Berwickshire),Edrom, Chirnside, joining the East Coast main line to Edinburgh at Reston. Operated until 1923 by the North British Railway, which became part of LNER. To the south, just off the pic, the branch joined the former Waverley line at Ravenswood Junction.
The viaduct is a true Victorian railway engineering marvel and shows the supreme confidence of the 19th century railway companies in their service/product. An amazing viaduct like this for a single-track branch line! Well worth seeing.
