Concrete coaling tower for the gravity feeding of coal into locomotives bunkers and tenders. Coal wagons were lifted and tipped into the hopper at the top of the tower. Such structures replace hand and crane coaling with great saving in time. However they did little to reduce the amount of dust on the atmosphere. '
