' This railway line runs from Manchester and Bury to the left on to Rawtenstall to the right. It joins with the Helmshore line just to the left of the image margin. The Bury-Rawtenstall line was closed by BR in JUne 1972 and is now a preserved line with steam and diesel trains operating as The East Lancashire Railway. '
