Manchester/Stockport-Lymm-Warrington (Bank Quay Low Level)-Liverpool (Lime Street) railway line. Passenger service discontinued in September 1962 as a result of the Beeching cuts. Closed to goods trains in 1985 when the viaduct over the Manchester Ship Canal, further west, needed overly expensive repair. The whole viaduct on this section of the line was subsequently demolished. '
