It opened on 2nd April 1914. The original proprietors were Shipley Pavilion Ltd. The Kinematograph Year Book 1935 indicates 700 seats.
From January to February 1945 the cinema was closed for refurbishment. Seating reduced to 630 seats.
It closed on Saturday 24th November 1956, showing “Princess Of The Nile” with Micheal Rennie and Jeffrey Hunter. '
