' Salvation Army Citadel. Built in 1895. The memorial stones were laid on 13 July of that year, with the building opening on Sunday 26 January 1896. Purpose built for the Barnsley corps of the Salvation Army at a total cost of £2,000. The building still stands, but is in a very sorry state of repair. It would be nice to see it brought back into use, perhaps as a live music venue. '
