' I think this is the first post-War replacement for the Southend Motor navigation Co.s 60ft Princess maud, lost during the Dunkirk Evation in late may, 1940.The SMNCo had a small 32ft single screw ML built by Walter Cook & Son on the Maldon Hythe, with War Loss Compensation, -which they ran for a couple of Seasons before the larger replacement "New Princess Maud" was launched. This smaller boat was then sold-off to an Operator on Canvey Island. '
