In approx 2008 a tractor dropped a front wheel into a void whilst harvesting parsnips.
The steelworks excavated the site and I remember seeing huge con rods around 2 feet accros in the hole, it was said this was a ventilation shft for the ore mines. The pake crop mark visable leading from the rail tracks is a branch line serving this site, a search of old maps show this.
