The white poles which carryied the electricity (DC supply) from the British railway generating point on the East Quay on the other side of the river, to the house of the harbour master which was situated in Western Road, Newhaven The only private property in the town to be lite by electricity at the time. The main AC generating station for the town not being built till early in the 1930's in New Road on the east side of the river. '
