The term Dosthill Granite refers to an Igneous rock (Diorite) quarried nearby at Dosthill Quarry now a diving & wild swimming centre. A aerial cableway once transported the rock in suspended buckets from the stone crusher and quarry near Dosthill Church to the Derby/B,ham railway sidings at Stoneware Ltd and west in the opposite direction towards the B,ham/Fazeley Canal and the Tamworth main road at Middleton.
