(Washingpool Lane) Washingpool Lane, a droveway, possibly of medieval origin and an important route within the parish of Henbury. With the building of the Ordnance Factory, a large part of Washingpool Lane fell within its boundary. Consequently, a segment of the droveway was lost to building work. The factory barbed wire perimeter fence cut across Washingpool Lane, cutting access to Green Splot Farm. The building of a new section of road to link Washingpool Lane, with the factory main gate took place. The new road lay outside of the factory security fence. The need to extend this road, thus linking Washingpool Lane with St Andrews Road, Avonmouth was undertaken during the nineteen twenties. This now gave the Chittening Estate direct road access to the port of Avonmouth. '
