' Part of this building (which appears on old maps and seems to form a part of the old Kenton Lane Farm complex) has been incorporated at the rear of the retail parade that appeared later in Kenton Lane. It is quite unusual at this time that an old building should be used in a new development. I think that developers then very much favoured a clean sweep approach and were less encumbered by any conservation considerations. It is difficult to know what the older building was. In the photograph it looks like they are semi-detached tied cottages (which were probably swept away for the new retail development) with buildings to the rear. It is probably one of these buildings that remains. The existing building is a tall structure with domestic chimney stacks but with no windows on the upper level. which tends to suggest that it was not a residential structure, but a heated ancillary building of some kind. It seems to have been retained in the more modern retail premises as stockroom space or, perhaps, a workshop area. '
