' The East London Tabernacle, bombed and gutted by fire WW2 1944. The original building seated some 2,500 people. Rebuilt in 1954 it has seating for 500. As a kid I waded in a foot of collected rainwater inside the shell of this building and cut my bare feet on a mixture of garbage and debris. A girl older than me and with strong motherly insticts took me to her home and cleaned the wounds. '
