' This mansion was Holywell Mount (1879) built by (and for) GA Wallis, agent to the Duke of Devonshire and Eastbourne's first mayor. It ended its days (c.1965) as Ravens Croft, a school for girls. There was a playing field on the other side of St John's Road that was accessed by a private subway from within the school complex. '
