' Deanwater House was built around 1837 as the house for the manager of adjacent Dane Water Calico Printing Mill, the mill had been demolished by 1851. Residents in the house included cotton spinner Robert Platt (who moved to Dunham Massey Hall near Altrincham, now NT); James Butler Kelly (Bishop of Newfoundland) and Charles Edmondson, calico printer engraver. The house is now a hotel. '
