This railway line went to Manchester Central to the left and to London St Pancras on the right, the next stations on the right were Chinley and Peak Forest. The connecting single track chord to the Manchester-Buxton via Hazel Grove line was put in place in 1986. There was a second Hazel Grove railway station on this line just to the right, but it closed in 1917. Passenger trains now use this line for a faster journey from Manchester to Sheffield via the Hope Valley. '
