The River Ivel. This was navigable to a point South of here when a man-made canal turned off to terminate at Shefford. Made navigable to Biggleswade in 1758. Extended to Langford and Shefford in 1823, and continued in use until the 1850s when the railways appeared. The Navigation was abandoned in 1876.
