Dawlish Warren was used as an air to ground firing range in WW2 by RAF and USAF fighter bombers. Machine guns and cannons would have been used and possibly rocket projectiles and dive bombing.
It was known to have been used in December 1944 (17 APC at RAF Warmwell) and in February 1945 the markers shelter was moved.
