' This car ferry is 'Mimie', the other car ferry was 'Tessa'. Here, the last vehicle is about to drive off, while four wait to be loaded. The vehicle ferry service ended on the 31st December 1964, due to the fall in custom after the opening of the Dartford Tunnel. My parents used to drive to Westcliffe to visit an old aunt, so I do remember travelling on the ferry. I don't remember using the foot passenger ferry until the Diesel boats came in to service. '
