' THIS BUILDING, STILL STANDING, WAS THE 'BULL RING CINEMA'. IT OPENED IN 1863 AS 'THE LONDON MUSEUM CONCERT HALL', LATER CHANGING ITS NAME TO 'THE CANTERBURY MUSIC HALL' IN 1890. IN 1896 IT WAS BOUGHT BY WILLIAM COUTTS AND RENAMED 'COUTTS THEATRE' AND ALTHOUGH SUCCESSFUL IT CLOSED IN 1900 AND FELL INTO DISUSE. IT BECAME A SILENT MOVIE CINEMA FROM 1912 UNTIL 1931, UNDER THE NAME 'BULL RING CINEMA'BUT NEVER WIRED FOR SOUND. THE AUDITORIUM WAS EVENTUALLY SUBDIVIDED AND USED AS A PUB, RESTAURANT (LORENZO'S),A NIGHT CLUB, KARATE SCHOOL ETC AND IS NOW DISUSED. '
