The building known now as the "Old Torpedo Factory" is not present in this shot. It is present, however, in shots of the same scene taken in 1931.
It is clear, then, that the building was built between these dates and has no connection with any activity during WW1. However, in the 1921 picture, there are two smaller buildings to the rear left that appear to have survived from that time.
A RIBA page https://www.architecture.com/image-library/RIBApix/image-information/poster/old-torpedo-factory-st-leonards-road-north-acton-london/posterid/RIBA54376.html dates the main building from 1900. How can this be? It's not there. '
