TSMV New prince Of Wales, 100 tons, 107ft loa. x 25ft beam x 2ft9ins draft, BoT Steam 6 Licensed to carry 375 passengers. Owned by A.E. Brand and W.H. Wilson trading as Southend Motor Navigation Co. Requisition on 28th May, 1940, by RN for Dunkirk service and lost to enemy action off the La Panne beaches because of her untrained RN "scratch crew", who -not realising she had petrol/paraffin engines, -0had topped-off her tanks with Diesel, thus contaminating her fuel and casuing engine stoppages. RN S.Lieut Skipper, and Ratings rescued by 54ft ML Triton [requisitioned private yacht].. '
