When this aerial photo was taken in 1950 this area was the Rubbish Dump for Hebburn UDC. We called it 'The Tips'. As a little lad me & my mates used to play in this riverside area & I remember seeing tin helmets & gas masks strewn around. Because we were little kids we never questioned how did the come to be there. '
