' The original Alexandra Infants and Junior school. Many happy years spent here between 1951 and 1957. Wonderful learning environment due to enthusiastic and dedicated teachers. In this image, the infants and juniors sections are on the left and right of the central quadrangle respectively. The building at the front of the school (nr. Alexandra Road) contained the headmistress and headmaster's offices (Miss Edwards and Mr Griffin in my days). The large buiding at the rear was the assembly hall. Note the building in the playground behind the hall - this contained a shelter for when it was raining and also the outside toilets. The school was sadly demolished c.2000 and is now the site of the Asda complex and adjacent car park. '
