' Hull Dairycoates MPD - North Eastern Railway/LNER/BR - was one of (if not the) biggest locomotive depots in Britain, comprising of 5 roundhouses and a 5 road straight shed at its peak, and provided the motive power for the majority of freight trains in and around the area. In the mid-1950s it had a new roof fitted and lost the roof over 2 of the turntables. It closed in the 1970s and left Botanic Gardens as the only railway depot in Hull. '
