' Site of the old Cheadle South railway station opened by the London & North Western Railway Company in 1866 and closed to passengers on January 1st 1917. Trains had operated from Manchester via Stockport Edgeley, with some extending to Broadheath and Warrington (Bank Quay Low Level). The adjacent goods sidings and depot remained open, however, until the late 20th century. providing facilities for local coal merchants. '
