' "Congregational Chapel", Wem Grade 2 listed building - English Heritage Building ID: 259910 1775, enlarged 1834. Ashlar front 1854. An Independent chapel, allied to the Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion was built here in 1775 at the expence of John Henshaw, attorney. It became fully Independent c.1792. The chapel was enlarged in 1834 (when the present front was probably added) and altered again in 1873. The Independents joined the United Reformed Church in the later 20th century, and by 1992 had joined with the Methodist Church in Wem The chapel was taken over by the Baptists in 1992. '
