At this time this building in Manor Street was a general drapers called R Montgomery, run by my grandfather John Elliot (1888-1982) and his partner Dick Montgomery, later taken over by my uncle (also John Elliot, 1919-1979). It was a family business for 50 years from the 1920s to the 1970s... last time I looked it was a travel agent... but that was 25 years ago...

The Pavilion Theater, Opened 1914, seating 950. Enlarged in 1933 to seat 1,337. Closed & Demolished in 1973.

I remember going to see Bednobs and Broomsticks here in the early 70's just before the Pavilion cinema closed.
