In the 1970s, this area became known as Mahjacks Corner or Mahjacks Roundabout after the large DIY store that was sited here. I should imagine that few call it that today, now that it has been redeveloped.

Original Metropolitan line Underground station opened 1904 placed here away from the town centre so that it could be extended to High Wycombe. This never materialised.
