Essential maintenance

HES is currently undertaking essential maintenance on our web services. This will limit access to services in the following ways:


- Subscription access for HES online services will be unavailable (Scran, NCAP)

- Image purchasing options will be limited (Canmore, Britain from Above, Scran, NCAP)

- Any enhanced services which require a log in will be unavailable (My Canmore, Britain from Above contributions, Scran contribute)


General access to these services will all continue. Enquiries will still be able to be submitted.

We anticipate services to be restored from Monday 1st February 2021.

Gledhow Grove mansion - Ministry of Pensions hospital built in the grounds to deal with some WW1 injuries and included the mansion house. Replaced the temporary hospital in Headingley in 1920s and specialized in replacement limbs.

Replaced the temporary military hospital in Headingley and dealt with WW1 injuries and replacement limbs.

The temporary hospital referred to was at Becketts Park in Headingley - please see EPW015917; there is quite a bit of info on about this use of the college buildings during and after the war. I had not previously known about the association of both places with WW1.
