The Beeches. This building was to become Meir Sports and Social Club, a workingmens' club affiliated to the Club and Institute Union, CIU. It fell out of use, became derelict, and was then targeted by arsonists a number of times during 2016/17. |

This is the North Staffs Derby line running from Stoke Junction to North Staffs Junction and is still used by trains today. Just off the right of the picture would have been the old Meir station. |

The hills at the top of the photograph must be those of Park Hall Country Park and the steam, to the left of them, seems to be Mossfield Colliery. Weston Coyney crossroads is marked by the little cluster of buildings on the right of the picture about a fifth the way from the top. Much of the land seen here has now been built over, mainly dwelling houses. |
