Parish Church School, Burnley Street, I was a pupil at this school from 1950 till 1955 then at Bluecoat School till 1959 and in 1969 I had a hand in its demise as one of the demolition crew.

Hi. I went to Parish Church Infants, but from 1960. Good memories. Great school. Kissed my first girl there.

I was a pupil at Burnley Street School. Started in class one in 1964 - Mrs Dalzall was the teacher, Mr Sharrocks was the headmaster.

I remember the coal fire in the classroom and the freezing cold outdoor toilets.

It was quite a contrast when they moved us into the new school up on Horsedge Street.

Odeon Cinema, Union Street Not easiest to sneak into, If I remember correctly someone had to pay to get in then crack-on to go to the loo then open the fire door to let their friends in. We could sneak into most Cinemas in Oldham. In the 1950s when I was a kid there were over 25 Cinemas.

The two tram tracks here join into one and continue as such up Yorkshire Street until the second of the two trams above (both of which are descending). This stretch was controlled by traffic lights, just for the trams.
