Lived here 82 next to small block of flats which were built after I was told the houses there were bombed could never find any info on this. I do know that bombs fell at the junction of Mortimer, College and Hazel road near the station. They were aiming at the Gas works in Ladbroke Grove

These are allotments, which a few years later were turned into a housing development with roads off Chamberlain Road,

eg Leigh Gardens. See later photograph EPW056370 of 1938.

Kensal Green Cemetery is near Kensal Green railway station on the LNWR line from Euston to Watford and the North.

The building is still there, just closed, i lived in bathurst gardens in the 60's, and i worked in the library!

The library building is still there but is no longer a council run library. When Brent closed it there was a long battle to re-open it by the Save Kensal Rise Library campaign. It was eventually bought by a developer and converted into private housing but with space retained for a community-run library - a great victory won by the campaigners.

The Kensal Green Public Library has NOT been demolished, it still stands but the current owners All Souls College, Oxford have yet to strike a deal for it to be reopened, possibly on the ground floor only. Observe how few cars and how as a result the streets look clearer. The railway embankments are clear of bushy vegetation, but it is unclear if there are allotments.

How few cars and how many young trees. There are still some trees in the surrounding streets (2013) but not nearly as abundant.

Yes, the building is still there, but mothballed at the moment while decisions as to its future take place, latest idea is flats in the building,i actually worked at the library for 2 years in the 60's, it was my first job! so sad to see a fine building stand empty and idle.
