In later years this cooling-water pumphouse bore a large notice marking the Greenwich Meridian.

In 1953 the power station was coal-fired. It was later converted to oil-firing.

London Hydraulic Power Company. Supplied hydraulic power to lifts and hoists throughout London via a extensive network of pipes. Pipes later became valuable as ducts for internet cables and fibres !
