Drift mine shaft training area for preposed sinking North Gawber Colliery Drift shaft. This drift shaft was constructed at a later date, It was sank by the side of the old Spring Garden's road way ( silly row and leading to the pit top pony stables ). the shaft ran under the blacker rd and Mapplewell junior school towards the paddock rd staincross.

In this picture, North Gawber Colliery,Carr Green Lane leading to Swallow hill. Below the colliery railway lines was Mr John Haigh's pig and poultry small holding, his son in law Mr Arthur Glover had pig and poultry there too. Arthur Glover was a 1940's and 50's Barnsley football player.

The field below that was called the Potty Croft where the North Gawber Colliery football team played,Eric Brooks another Barnsley player played there, manager Juddy Lindley. The game of Nippsie was also played on the Potty Croft.
