Area being cleared for the erection of "Telephone House" for the Hull Corporation Telephone Department. There will be also the "Anson" exchange belonging to the Post Office, as it was then, thus allowing Hull to be connected to the outside world.

What was the tram generating power station, thanks to the National Grid, it's not now needed for the trolleybuses.

About here in the open air market was a well patronised fish and chip stall. Its wonderful smells pervaded the whole market.

I too have fond memories of "Bob Carver" fish and chips in the big tent in the area alongside Holy Trinity church. When that market was moved, they acquired premises in Trinity House Lane and Chapel Street.

Almost certainly the original Melrose Abbey. She was built in the 1920s and provided the regular ferry service to Rotterdam.

Almost certainly the original Melrose Abbey. She was built in the 1920s and provided the once or twice weekly ferry service to Rotterdam.
