I believe this to be the up fixed distant signal for Chiseldon Signal Box on the ex Midland & South Western Junction Railway line from Southampton to Cheltenham. |

After the loop was extended during World War 2, the distant signal for Chiseldon was 1,593 yards (~0.9 miles) south of the signal cabin at Chsieldon station. Also for WW2, a loop was put in a mile south of Chiseldon station to serve Chiseldon army camp, which would explain the dismantled second track. |
