I lived in Dearn street at the time I would be about 7 years old and use to go to the Methadist church to play games etc inside very lovely couple that use to run it it all of threepence thats if I could get it of my Dad hi. the keeper that looked after the church lived in house on the church grounds they called her Mrs Edwards had a little scottie dog had a dogy coat on. we use to play around the main entrance gates of the chappel Mrs Edwards would come and ask us to leave and go and play in the local rec. go and annoy Mr fiddler the park keeper another story.

My old School Brightside Infants and junior. am 56 now my sister went there as well she was 18 months older than me and I remember going down in my mums arms waiting outside for my sister to come out of school.not many clear days most of the time it was foggy as we use to say but it was the works smoke.it was that bad we could not see the shops accross the road one was the butchers shop were my play mate at school his father was the butcher. let alone the amber street light.

Saint Margarets Brightside. Am 56 now but back then I would be about 6 to 7 years old and the vicar was Mr Malin. there was a big service at the church for him. I left on the corner of Eben street end of the coop the house was a wedge house.then moved the 33 dearn street, and the to Limpsfield road. were most of my teenaged memories was there.
