This is a short branch off from the main line to loading dock for livestock. It branched off the main line to the station and then then branched off itself again before it got to the road.

Does anybody know what this siding served. The signalling plans show several.

Not clear why but there are a lot of (junior?) school children standing on the low wall between the school yard and street, other children seem to be playing ball games.

Hi Jerry, That was my first school Hardwick Lane Infants, we used to stand on that wall holding onto the cast iron railings. Good Old Days.

When this photo was taken this School would have been Eastbourne Senior School, and Croft School was then on Hardwick Street.

British Railways/LMS station. Sutton in Ashfield was the terminus of a short branch from Sutton Junction. This was part of the Midland Railway estate until 1923

The station is now underneath the Matalan Complex. The school opposite (Croft) is still there.

The factory is now underneath Homebase and further down the picture would now be Wickes. Interestingly, Wickes address used to be 'The Old Station Yard'.

Another superb view of the Midland railway Branch Line in Sutton in Ashfield. Now I can add the details of the station forecourt to my plans !

Matalan and other shops now, sadly, cover the site.

What a fantastic view of the Sutton in Ashfield (Town) station built by the Midland railway (later L.M.S) as a 3/4 mile branch line. I have waiting a VERY long time for photo's like this !

Now I can begin to add more drawings ready for my N Gauge railway layout based on his station !!

I am blown away and the zoom in quality is fantastic.
