Photographs taken by The Solway Nature Explorers (9-14yrs) around the remains of the Solway Viaduct, seen in the aerial photograph of Glasson Moss and environs, Bowness-on-Solway, 1949: Image Reference EAW022906, have been turned into black and white images as inspiration for the lino cutting and stencilling workshop that they will be doing during the week.

This workshop with The Solway Nature Explorers is based around mark making and mans mark on the landscape. Marks which are particularly striking in aerial photographs such as this one, where industrial peat cutting carved large channels into the landscape that can still be seen today.

This is an interesting element that can be seen in the aerial photographs of the Solway coast, particularly the Peat cutting around Glasson Moss, that we are exploring as part of the Borders Project in this area.
