This is presumably the old airfield, with the aircraft repair hangers integrated into the factory beyond.

Ex Midland Railway branch line Yate to Thornbury which closed to passenger service on 19 June 1944. The line is still open to Grovesend Quarry, Thytherington for quarry traffic.

The Thornbury branch, as far as Grovesend Quarry, has been disused for a few years now, as the quarry has been 'mothballed' due a drop in demand for the type of stone there.

Thanks Andrew. We tried various aerodromes that we knew had Works buildings nearby but didn't get Yate...we'll update the catalogue and post the new data here in due course.
